Solvang Getaway

Finally was able to upload just a few pictures from our mini getaway to Solvang.

Solvang is a charming little Danish town located in northern Cali. It's tucked away between many hills in the middle of nowhere. Entering the little town was simply love at first sight. It truly felt like we were transported thousands of miles away in to Denmark. Best thing of all is that the weather was perfection. Clear blue skies with nothing but sunshine beating down on us.

We walked around the town and got some goodies at the bakery and also did some wine tasting. We ended up leaving with an italian Moscato and a California Zinfandel. Very tasty.

We only stayed for the weekend but I'm yearning to go back already. There are so many other places I want to visit around there, like the lavender fields, wineries and Los Olivos town.

I love how California has so many hidden treasures. It will take a lifetime to discover them all but I'm on a mission to try and go everywhere in Cali...especially this summer. I already have a list in my mind of stuff I want to do and new places I want to see.
In my next post I will include some photos from the rest of our trip :-)
Have a nice saturday peeps.

“We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations.”

Cuban goodness

For mother's day we took my mom out for brunch at Havana. We love this nice cozy cuban restaurant The food is delicious and you can't miss out on that white sangria!!! My mom had "ropa vieja" (old clothes.) It's basically shredded beef accompanied with rice/beans and topped off with plantanes... a bit similar to our Salvadorian food so my mom loved it. My sis and I both had the "Spanish tortilla." It reminded me of an omelet. It was stuffed with a bunch of thick layers of eggs, potatoes and veggies. It was definitely something new but very tasty.
Overall, we had a relaxing afternoon and then we rushed off to my brothers before they left to their prom.

I'm totally late but hope everyone had a nice mother's day :-)

Universal City Walk

Just a few pictures from our evening at Universal City walk.

As soon as we got there we began to look around for a good restaurant...everything looked good, but Hard Rock cafe lured us in with its HUGE electric guitar at the entrance. Inside, the restaurant welcomes its guests with a rotating classic car on top of the bar. One of my fave things about Hard Rock is that they play old school music videos. It totally brought back memories from the back in the day, when Steph and I would spend our summers watching music videos.  I remember how we would dash to the VCR to record songs. lol. Obviously we had too much time in our hands.

After dinner we took a long stroll. I love all the bright lights at City Walk. The lights make for a nice and happy atmosphere. I'm pretty sure we'll be coming around there more often. Stephanie and I sported the same heels :-) She got  a pretty good deal on them and bought a pair for me too...I love my sis!

City of Angels

Randomly decided to take a drive to LA and we ended up at the Observatory in Griffith park. It had been years since I had been to the observatory and was eager to see the renovations. The "Big Picture" exhibit in the new lower level was fascinating. The big picture is the largest astronomical image ever produced! I began to count a few stars but got so lost. We then got to check out some of the meteor rocks that they had in display. Very cool stuff. Yes we are the biggest dorks when it comes to astronomy so we had a lot of fun.

After the observatory we drove through the hills and found our fave spot to view the Hollywood sign.  Being up in the hills makes you feel like your at the top of the world. It was perfection.

Totally looking forwards to more sunny lazy days where we can just hop in the car and drive aimlessly without a destination.
