May lovin'
I'm late on my May. Been busy doing tons of excitin' stuff like planning parties and spending time with fam/friends. There's lately been so much on my mind and I feel like it's going to explode. Seriously too many thoughts and ideas going on, that sometimes I just have to slow down or take a nap to relax.
naps are the best...
So in other news I'm excited for the Great Gatsby to come out this week. I've got the biggest crush on Leo Dicaprio and a girl crush on Carey Mulligan. They are perfect for the roles. I'm gonna reread the book before I watch the movie to refresh my memory.
Also this week, I'm looking forwards to mother's day. In Latin American countries we celebrate it on May 10th, so it's gonna go down this Friday!
My cousins and I are planning on throwing a cute little tea party for our mums. All I know is they are going to love it!
For now...enjoy some random shots that make me smile.

Audrey Hepburn
Was thrilled to see Audrey Hepburn on the cover of Vanity Fair. The spread includes photos of her in none other than Rome. I totally admire her effortless and chic style. She was and still is a fashion icon! Not to mention an amazing actress!
“I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and... I believe in miracles.” - Audrey Hepburn.

Beach House

Such an amazing show this was!! Victoria Legrand's voice is so unlike what's popular nowadays. I think that's what definitely draws me in to their music. After years of listening to them, they're still like a breath of fresh air. Their sound is so simple and at the same time so complex. They mix an array of instruments together to create beautiful sounds and they all just compliment Victoria's voice so well. I love it!
some lyrics from the song "MYTH"-
...Found yourself in a new direction
Arrows falling from the sun
Canyon calling would they come to greet you
Let you know you're not the only one
Can't keep hanging on
to what is dead and gone
If you built yourself a myth
You'd know just what to give
Materialize
Or let the ashes fly
Help me to name it
Help me to name it...

Let's Getty!

Nothing better than going to the Getty on a beautiful sunny day. The gardens were filled flowers, bursting with purples, pinks and yellows. Spring is in full force and I couldn't be happier.
Inside, we checked out a famous painting on display by Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer. His painting: Woman in Blue Reading a Letter, was the center of attention. I was expecting it to be way larger! To be honest I wasn't quite impressed. I love his other painting better: Girl with a Pearl Earring.
I was totally obsessed though, with the exhibit with the medieval manuscripts. It's mind blowing how so much work went into writing a book back then. We're not talking about tiny books here. Some were massive pieces of work with intricate illustrations made with metallic gold and silver ink. We came upon a large bible, from Nuremberg and I couldn't help but notice how the calligraphy was impeccable. The pages were super thick and the edges all ragged and uneven. I loved how raw it looked. Seriously I wish all books were still made like this. It would take forever but they would probably be appreciated a bit more.
My favorite, was a journal from a Spanish man, who had traveled with the conquistadores to South America in the early 1500's. His accounts of the Peruvian Inca emperor were fascinating. In Spanish, he describes the emperor as a great man with honor. He even made a sketch of the emperor in a long and vibrant cape with a beautifully embroidered skirt. On his head, he wore a super cool gold headpiece. I'll never forget it!
Anyways our trip to the Getty was a success. We enjoyed every minute of it. I'm totally looking forwards to more trips to museums. Next stop might be to the California Science center to check out the space shuttle: ENDEAVOR. yay!
